1. Payment
Payment must be made in advance of the relevant lesson, class, tuition period or package.
A student’s place is not guaranteed until the required payment has been received. GCSE Science Academy reserves the right to withhold tuition where payment remains outstanding.
2. Group tuition
Group tuition places are subject to availability and the stated maximum class size. Payment secures a student’s place within the relevant group for the period purchased.
3. One-to-one tuition
One-to-one lessons are arranged according to teacher availability. Any package of lessons must be paid for in accordance with the payment terms provided at the time of booking.
4. Student cancellations and missed lessons
At least 24 hours’ notice should be provided if a student is unable to attend a scheduled lesson.
Where a student misses a lesson or cancels with less than 24 hours’ notice, the lesson will normally be treated as used and no refund or credit will normally be provided. Providing notice does not automatically create an entitlement to a refund.
5. Extenuating circumstances
We recognise that genuine emergencies and unexpected circumstances can occur.
Where a lesson is missed because of a genuine extenuating circumstance, GCSE Science Academy may, at its discretion and where appropriate, provide a credit or reduction against a future tuition payment rather than issuing a cash refund. Extenuating circumstances will be considered individually and reasonably.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions affects any statutory rights a customer may have under applicable UK consumer law, including any cancellation rights that apply to services purchased online.
6. Cancellations by GCSE Science Academy
If GCSE Science Academy cancels a scheduled lesson, we will normally offer an alternative lesson. Where an appropriate alternative cannot reasonably be provided, a credit or refund may be offered for the affected lesson.
7. Late arrival
Students should join lessons on time. Where a student arrives late, the lesson will normally still finish at the originally scheduled time.
8. Student conduct
Students are expected to behave respectfully towards teachers and other students. Disruptive, abusive, discriminatory or otherwise inappropriate behaviour will not be accepted.
GCSE Science Academy reserves the right to remove a student from a lesson where their behaviour significantly affects the learning or wellbeing of others.
9. Technology
Students are responsible for having a suitable internet connection and device capable of accessing online lessons. GCSE Science Academy cannot normally provide refunds for lessons missed because of technical problems on the student’s side.
Where a significant technical failure on our side prevents a lesson from being delivered, an alternative arrangement or appropriate credit will be provided.
10. Educational materials
Lesson materials, presentations, worksheets, recordings and other resources supplied by GCSE Science Academy remain the intellectual property of GCSE Science Academy or their respective copyright owners.
Materials provided specifically for students may be used for the student’s personal educational purposes but must not be reproduced, sold, uploaded publicly, shared commercially or redistributed without permission.
11. Educational outcomes
GCSE Science Academy aims to provide high-quality teaching and support. However, examination results and academic outcomes depend on numerous factors, including attendance, effort, independent study and completion of assigned work.
We therefore cannot guarantee a particular examination grade or academic outcome.
12. Safeguarding
GCSE Science Academy takes the safeguarding of children and young people seriously. Students, parents and guardians are expected to follow our Safeguarding Policy when participating in our services.
13. Privacy
Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable UK data-protection law.
